Project Name: Winter Passenger Ferry Service for Madeline Island

Needs and Estimate Summary: Winter passenger ferry service between Madeline Island and the City of Bayfield is critical to the survival of residents, business owners, tourist and school children. With no medical facilities on Madeline Island, during the winter months having a passenger ferry is essential. The current service is privately owned and operated.

Description of the project: Implement a public winter passenger ferry service between Madeline Island and the City of Bayfield. As part of the implement plan a terminal building would be constructed on Madeline Island, the existing (used) windsled would be purchased from the current owner and two (2) new windsleds would be purchased.
