Before we could continue on our windsled replica, we needed to purchase a Stinson AT-19 engine (R680-E3), engine mount and complete exhaust system. It took some time but we located a business in Montoursvile PA. named J.P. Hackenburg & Sons Aviation. If you own an old aircraft that is powered by a radial you probably have heard of them. I have discovered that you can’t talk to anyone about radial engine parts or overhauls without the name "Hackenburg" being mentioned. From what I have found, they are the best.
Mr. Hackenburg is considered one of the top
radial engine experts in the United States and
not only agreed to help us locate an engine and
mount, but he also owned an AT-19 aircraft
without fabric which would allow us to measure
the tail and fuselage so it could be accurately
duplicated for our windsleds tail.
